About the Authors of AI Strategy Compass
The AI Strategy Compass framework was developed by Martin Sattrup Christensen and internationally co-authored with Miles Duncan.
The framework was created to help leaders navigate one of the most important strategic challenges facing modern organizations: how to turn artificial intelligence into real business value.
Together, they combine experience in leadership, strategy and business development to help organizations move from AI curiosity to structured implementation.
What is the AI Strategy Compass?
The AI Strategy Compass is a leadership framework designed to help organizations build and implement an AI strategy.
It helps leadership teams align five critical dimensions that determine whether artificial intelligence creates real value in an organization:
- strategy
- digital foundation
- organization and culture
- solutions and use cases
- scaling and operations
By addressing these dimensions together, the framework helps companies move from AI experimentation to structured implementation and measurable business impact.
The framework is supported by practical tools such as the AI Maturity Test and the AI Strategy Compass toolbox, which help organizations assess readiness and implement AI initiatives in practice.

How the AI Strategy Compass Was Developed
The AI Strategy Compass framework was developed through practical experience working with leaders and organizations navigating the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence.
In many conversations with executives, board members and leadership teams, a recurring pattern appeared. Organizations recognized the strategic importance of AI, yet many struggled to translate that awareness into clear decisions and practical action.
Some companies experimented with AI tools. Others launched pilot projects or technology initiatives. But without a structured approach that connected strategy, organization, data and implementation, these initiatives rarely created lasting business value.
The AI Strategy Compass was therefore developed to provide leaders with a clear and practical framework for approaching AI as a leadership challenge rather than a technology project.
The framework combines:
- practical leadership experience from working with organizations exploring AI
- insights from research on AI strategy and digital transformation
- lessons learned from real-world cases of AI adoption
The result is a framework that helps organizations move from AI curiosity to structured AI strategy and implementation.
Helping Leaders Navigate AI
Martin Sattrup Christensen and Miles Duncan work with organizations that want to develop a structured approach to artificial intelligence.
Through keynotes, strategy workshops and leadership sessions, they help executives and boards explore questions such as:
- How will AI affect our industry and competitive landscape?
- What role should AI play in our business strategy?
- How ready is our organization to implement AI?
- Which AI initiatives should we prioritize first?
- How do we scale AI initiatives across the organization?
Their work is based on the belief that successful AI adoption is primarily a leadership challenge rather than a technology problem.
